Part I: Stigma Associated with Substance Use Disorders

Stigma can lead to feelings of shame and isolation, often causing people to avoid the very care, support, and meaningful connections with others that could make a difference. Many experience stigma where they turn for help—whether that's in schools, community programs, workplaces, or medical settings. This leads to missed opportunities for connection and care for our loved ones, neighbors, and community members.
